Benin - Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (Benin - BESC/ECTN)

Benin - Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (Benin - BESC/ECTN)
According to Benin national regulations, all cargo shipped to the port of Cotonou, Benin, or transshipped via this port to other destinations must be accompanied by an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (BESC). BESC stands for: BORDEREAU DE SUIVI DE CARGAISON. BESC is also known as ECTN, which stands for: ELECTRONIC CARGO TRACKING NOTE. Failure to obtain the Benin BESC (or Benin ECTN) may result in the shipping line at the port of loading being unable to issue the Bill of Lading, or the consignee at the destination port being unable to clear customs.
Applicable Port: COTONOU, BENIN-ECTN/BESC
Note:
**The ECTN certificate must be applied for before the shipping line issues the original Bill of Lading, and the process must be completed before the vessel arrives at the destination port.
**Once approved and issued, the original ECTN certificate (in PDF format) will be emailed to the applicant. The applicant should forward this original certificate to the consignee at the destination port and the shipping line, etc.
**After the CTN NO. is generated, no information can be modified except for the Bill of Lading date and number. If modifications are necessary, an additional amendment fee will apply.
