Burkina Faso – Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN/BESC) 

        According to Burkina Faso Decree No. 00557 issued on 11/07/2006: effective from 07 November 2006, all cargo exported to Burkina Faso must be accompanied by a Burkina Faso ECTN/BESC (Electronic Cargo Tracking Note). Failure to obtain this document will result in the cargo being detained at the destination port or incurring penalties.

**The ECTN certificate must be obtained before the shipping line issues the original ocean bill of lading.
**Once approved and activated, the original ECTN certificate (PDF format) will be emailed to the applicant, who should then forward this original certificate to the consignee at the destination port and the shipping line, etc.
 

Burkina Faso ECTN/BESC Certificate Application Process:
 
Required Documents
1. ECTN APPLICATION FORM
2. Draft Bill of Lading (DRAFT B/L COPY)
3. Stamped scanned copy of Packing List
4. Stamped scanned copy of Commercial Invoice
5. Stamped scanned copy of Freight Invoice

 
Application Procedure
1. After the cargo is shipped, please complete the application form and email it to our operations colleague, along with the draft bill of lading, stamped scanned packing list, and stamped scanned commercial invoice.
2. Our operations colleague will issue a fee statement based on the application form for your payment arrangement.
3. Once you have made the payment and scanned the bank slip to us, we will prepare an ECTN draft based on the documents you provided for your verification. You must carefully check the draft and confirm it by email reply.
4. After you confirm the ECTN draft, we will submit it to the authorities for approval. Once approved and the number is released, we will send the ECTN number to you. Please note: After the ECTN number is issued, no changes can be made to any information except the B/L issuance date, sailing date, vessel name, and voyage number. Otherwise, an amendment fee will be charged for each modification.
5. Within three calendar days after the ECTN number is issued, you must scan the original bill of lading to us and reconfirm the ECTN content. Once you confirm it is correct, we will apply for the original ECTN certificate on your behalf.
6. The original ECTN certificate (PDF format) will be emailed to you. You need to print it out or forward it to the consignee at the discharge port, freight forwarder, or shipping line, etc.
 
 

Payment and Invoicing
For both domestic and international clients, payment can be made directly in RMB. For foreign currency telegraphic transfers, we will need to charge an additional foreign exchange handling fee and intermediary bank charges.
