Gambia – Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (Gambia-CTN / ACD / ENS)

Gambia – Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (Gambia-CTN / ACD / ENS)
The implementation of the Cargo Tracking Note in The Gambia serves as a notice to all carriers and shipping agents regarding the subject mentioned above. Please be advised that since 2002, when governments, port authorities, and shipping lines introduced requirements under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, an Advance Cargo Declaration scheme—CTN/ACD—has been planned for implementation as part of Gambia’s cargo security and safety procedures.
Therefore, effective from May 15, 2023, every shipment loaded or discharged (import, export, and transit) with The Gambia as the origin/final/transit destination must obtain a Cargo Tracking Note number (ENS/ENX) prior to shipment. Additionally, vessels or carriers transporting such cargo must also obtain a Movement Reference Number (MRN) from the Global Tracking and Maritime Solutions Company platform and present it to their representatives at all ports worldwide.
Gambia Advance Cargo Declaration CTN/ACD/ENS
Gambia CTN: CTN stands for Cargo Tracking Note, a general term for a customs clearance document required for imports by most African countries. In Chinese, it is referred to as a cargo tracking note. Simply put, it achieves the cargo tracking effect of a CTN through the ACD advance import declaration system.
Gambia ENS: ENS stands for Entry Summary Declaration, translated into Chinese as an entry summary serial number. In simple terms, after applying for the Gambia ACD, the approving authority assigns a unique tracking number to the shipment, which the customer provides to the shipping line and consignee for display on the bill of lading and other clearance documents.
