Somalia - Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (Somalia - CTN/ECTN)

Somalia – Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (CTN/ECTN)
Effective from February 1, 2023, a CTN/ECTN certificate is mandatory for all customs clearance in Somalia. Under Somali regulations, an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (CTN/ECTN) must be obtained for all shipments to Somalia. Failure to apply will be considered a violation of Somali rules and will automatically incur penalties at the destination port. All cargo exported to Somalia must have the CTN/ECTN certificate processed within one week prior to the vessel's arrival at the port. Cargo without a pre-arranged Somali CTN or with false information on the CTN will be subject to double the certificate fee plus regulatory charges determined by the Somali government.
Note:
**The CTN certificate must be applied for before the shipping line issues the original ocean bill of lading and completed before the vessel arrives at the port.
**Once approved and issued, the original ECTN certificate (in PDF format) will be emailed to the applicant, who should then forward this original certificate to the consignee at the destination port and the shipping line, etc.
**After the CTN number is generated, no information can be modified except for the bill of lading date and number. If modifications are necessary, additional amendment fees will apply.
